CSS assists federal, state, and local agencies in addressing threats from and responding to natural disasters, acts of terrorism, and other Incidents of National Significance (INS). We have responded to three of the nation's largest oil spills (including Deepwater Horizon and Exxon Valdez), several major hurricanes (including Katrina and Rita), the Washington, DC anthrax attacks, West Coast wildfires, the Space Shuttle Columbia disaster, and numerous serious industrial and transportation accidents nationwide. We operate mobile, high-throughput, analytical laboratories specialized for the detection of chemical warfare agents and toxic industrial chemicals (TICs), and we sample for biological agents of concern. We support the Airborne Spectral Photometric Environmental Collection Technology (ASPECT) aircraft and associated sensors for the detection of chemical agents and radiation sources. All of our executives and senior managers are trained in the Incident Command System (ICS).
