Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP) ES&H Support
CSS provided on-site environmental, safety, and health support 24 hours per day/five days per week to support approximately 1,900 employees occupying 1.4 million square feet of floor space at BEP’s Washington, DC, facility (DCF).
The BEP OEHS develops and implements Bureau policies and programs for its Washington, DC, and Landover, MD, facilities to ensure a safe and healthful working environment for BEP employees and the public. CSS provided on-site ES&H support for BEP, OEHS as a prime contractor from 2003 until 2012, and currently as a subcontractor. Services are provided 24 hours per day/five days per week to support approximately 1,900 employees occupying 1.4 million square feet of floor space at BEP’s Washington, DC, facility (DCF). Our ES&H staff assist OEHS in ensuring that BEP operations are carried out in compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, EOs, and Agency policies and procedural requirements. CSS personnel conduct safety, health, environmental, and fire protection inspections throughout BEP, prepare detailed inspection reports, and monitor compliance. We provide comprehensive ES&H support including IH and safety surveys, exposure assessments and monitoring for chemical and physical hazards, IAQ assessments, non-ionizing radiation evaluations, PPE assessments, respirator selection and fit testing, ergonomics assessments, and training support. The major services performed on this contract include:
- Conduct EHS and fire protection inspections throughout BEP, prepare detailed reports, and monitor compliance
- Develop and update written EHS programs and provide EHS program support

Supporting EPA’s Emergency Response Efforts following Hurricane Harvey
CSS staff served as lead technical advisors on a multi-agency environmental response team after Hurricane Harvey.
Biogeographic Assessment of the Main Hawaiian Islands (MHI)
CSS compiled and visualized data showing the distribution of habitats and marine organisms, to establish a baseline for assessing and monitoring potential environmental impacts from renewable energy projects.
Red Hill Drinking Water Crisis
CSS supported the U.S. EPA Red Hill response operations in Hawaii in early 2022.
